IE View Lite

Today I replaced my long time favorite IEView with IE View Lite.

Mozilla Update :: Extensions — More Info:IE View Lite – All Releases

This is a cut down version of IE View by Paul Roub, which is 47.4 KB. All the same UI and features are there. It has a right click menu item to open a page in IE and a list of sites to always open in IE. Everything’s just been rebuilt from the ground up to be smaller and more efficient. Plus, it has the ability to pass extra parameters to the executable (very helpful for use with WINE), which is not included in regular IE View.

Grayson’s Firefox Extensions

Lite extensions are cut down version of other extensions. Credit for the original idea should go to the original authors. However, all of the coding was written from scratch by me to be more compact and efficient.

The slogan is “smaller, faster, better”. How small? Nightly Tester Tools Lite and IE View Lite combined are still smaller than this webpage. How fast? I have no idea. This claim is based on the fact that my extensions are smaller. All of the extension files are loaded into memory at start. So a smaller extension should make Firefox load faster than a large one. You could say the “faster” claim is not empirical. It is merely theoretical. How much better? Smaller and faster make it better, or so I think and have been told. You decide how much better they are.

Adblock Plus: Save your time and traffic

Today I replaced the Adblock extension with Adblock Plus. – adblockplus: index

Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them. Right-click on a banner and choose “Adblock” from the context menu — the banner won’t be downloaded again. Or open Adblock Plus sidebar to see all elements of the page and block the banners. You can use filters with wildcards or even regular expressions to block complete banner factories.

Getting Things Done with PHP

I’m still looking for great web-based software that I can use to implement GTD anywhere. I’ve been using TaskFreak to manage my lists, and I like it best of what I’ve used so far. Today I ran across a new PHP based software designed specifically for GTD. I’ve loaded it onto my site, and I’ll be giving it the run through for a while.
